The Lagar, the restored olive press building, contains space for a communal kitchen and eating area, space for arts activities, as well as the opportunity to create an enclosed quiet study space for the older children, a play room for younger children and a library space.
In order for both age groups to be housed comfortably in all weathers, three internal rooms will need to be made in the stone building which is currently partly open to the elements. We are currently fundraising to cover the cost of materials and labour to build these indoor rooms and put windows and doors in, to create a space that can be used all year round.
We plan to build with natural materials and children will participate in the building of the spaces, learning different eco-building techniques.
There is a beautiful flat area of land outside the Lagar building ideal for outdoor play and for creating a permaculture garden to be managed by the project.
